Dodge Revives Classic SIXPACK Heritage With 550-HP Turbocharged 2026 Charger Scat Pack
August 21 2025,
Dodge reaches back to its muscle car roots with the 2026 Charger Scat Pack, reviving the legendary SIXPACK name that muscle car enthusiasts remember from the golden era of the 1970s. But instead of three two-barrel carburetors, this modern SIXPACK delivers its power through advanced twin-turbo technology.
The new SIXPACK badge refers to Dodge’s award-winning 3.0L twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine that powers both the Charger Scat Pack and R/T models. This engine produces around 550 hp in the Scat Pack, making it the most powerful version of Dodge’s Hurricane engine in production. Orders will open in August 2025, with vehicles scheduled to arrive at dealerships in the second half of 2025.
From Six Barrels to Twin Turbos
In the 1970s, the SIXPACK badge meant serious business on Dodge muscle cars. It referred to three two-barrel carburetors mounted on top of high-performance engines, creating six total carburetor barrels that fed fuel and air into the combustion chambers. Car enthusiasts knew that seeing “SIXPACK” on a Dodge meant raw, unfiltered power.
Today’s SIXPACK keeps that performance spirit alive but uses modern technology to deliver it. The new 3.0L twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine maintains the straight-six layout that performance drivers appreciate while adding twin Garrett turbochargers to boost power output far beyond what those original engines could produce.
The turbocharged SIXPACK H.O. engine in the Charger Scat Pack targets a 3.9-second sprint to 100 km/h and runs the quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds. That puts it in serious sports car territory while maintaining the muscle car character that Charger buyers expect.
Modern Engineering Meets Classic Performance
The SIXPACK engine family includes two versions for the 2026 Charger lineup. The high-output version powers the Scat Pack with around 550 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque, while the standard-output engine delivers around 420 hp in the R/T model.
Both engines use twin Garrett GT2054 turbochargers that spin up to 185,000 rpm and generate peak boost of 30 psi. The turbine material uses Inconel 100, marking the first industry application of this aerospace-grade material in turbocharger construction. This provides exceptional resistance to the extreme heat and stress of high-performance operation.
The engine delivers 88% of its peak torque at just 2,500 rpm, which means immediate response when you press the accelerator. More than 90% of peak torque remains available from 3,000 to 6,000 rpm, ensuring sustained performance throughout the rev range.
AWD Capability with RWD Fun
Unlike traditional muscle cars that sent power only to the rear wheels, the 2026 Charger SIXPACK models feature standard all-wheel drive when you need it and rear-wheel drive when you want it. The robust 8-speed automatic transmission includes a multi-disc wet clutch system that opens at the push of a button.
This system can send 100% of torque to the rear wheels for traditional muscle car driving dynamics. The Charger Scat Pack includes Line Lock capability, which locks the front brakes while allowing the rear wheels to spin freely. This enables tire-warming burnouts with the push of a button.
For practical driving, the AWD system provides extra traction in challenging weather conditions and improved launch performance at the drag strip. The system automatically manages torque distribution based on driving conditions and surface traction.

Five Drive Modes for Every Situation
The SIXPACK-powered Chargers include five distinct drive modes that adjust everything from throttle response to exhaust sound.
- Auto Mode – balanced performance for daily driving
- Eco Mode – prioritizes fuel efficiency, biasing power to the rear wheels and engaging AWD only when necessary
- Wet/Snow Mode – optimizes traction with a balanced 50/50 torque split
- Sport Mode – sharpens throttle response, quickens shifts, and opens active exhaust valves
- Custom Mode – lets drivers configure propulsion, steering weight, and exhaust note to their preference
Heritage Design with Modern Attitude
The SIXPACK-powered Charger models feature distinctive exterior design elements that announce their internal-combustion identity. A unique performance hood with a black SIXPACK-logoed grille-style bezel sits up front, while the rear fascia features debossed “CHARGER” text and performance-tuned dual exhaust tips.
The interior builds on the award-winning design shared with electric Charger Daytona models, including the freestanding 10.25-inch cluster screen and 12.3-inch centre display angled toward the driver. Performance-oriented features include a heated flat-top/flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters and the iconic pistol-grip shifter.
Both two-door and four-door versions will be available, with four-door models adding an extra $3,000 to the Canadian MSRP. The 550-hp Scat Pack starts at $72,290, while the 420-hp R/T begins at $62,290.
